The following services offer free or low-cost services, and many specialize in youth, people of color, or the API communities. Please note that many universities also include free or subsidized sexual and mental healthcare to enrolled students as part of their student services.

Services for persons living with HIV/AIDS including case management, HIV prevention education, In- home health care, insurance/benefits advocacy, mental health & the Necessities of Life program which provides groceries, dietary supplements and toiletries to clients.

APAIT Health Center PRISM Program

In an effort to continue providing a continuum of services to the medically underserved populations of Los Angeles, APAIT (Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team) Health Center is offering free counseling services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) communities of color. The program is a combination of evidence-based models of risk-reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy.

The Center in Long Beach

The Center LB desires to assist people to enhance their relationships, improve healthy communication, decrease violence, address substance abuse, improve self-esteem and provide for a greater sense of safety and well being in their lives. These services exist at a lower-than-customary cost and fees are determined by the ability of clients to pay. Fees are established at the time of the intake and specific individual situations are taken into consideration.

L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center: Mental Health Services

The staff and volunteers of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Mental Health Services Department specialize in affordable (potentially free) psychotherapy for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. We offer counseling in a safe and welcoming environment for people of all cultures, ethnicities and sexual orientations.

The L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center: STD Testing and Treatment

The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Sexual Health Program offers free sexually transmitted disease screening, treatment and education specifically for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community (though everyone is welcome). Routine testing is available on a walk-in basis. STD screenings are offered to anyone undergoing HIV testing as well.
